Krista, the creator of Hippie's Homemade Candles, started the company in her kitchen back in 2013. At first, she was making them just for herself. She has asthma and she used to burn many candles during her time working as a massage therapist.
She was determined to learn how to make her own candles. Ones that would be safer for her to use, and still smell great. She did a lot of research and eventually came up with her own candle recipe.
Krista's candles are as natural as they can get, without losing the strong scent that we all crave in a good candle. She uses high quality, botanical-based, phthalate-free oils, and 100% soy wax.
She blends her oils by hand in order to make unique fragrances and offer a wide variety of scents for you to choose from.
She knows you will find a scent that you'll love!
These Candles Are:

People always ask Krista about the name of her company, and she is always happy to share the story. Clearly, she is too young to claim to be a "Hippie" and she may not always look the part, but the meaning is much deeper.
In her own words, here is the story behind the name.....
"My oldest brother James, nicknamed me Hippie when I was a baby. He must have just known I was an old soul when I was born, or maybe he wanted me to be like him. He was an extremely talented musician, who could play any instrument he picked up naturally, as well as a beautiful artist. His heart and soul were as beautiful as his music and art.
He taught me so much about life, the universe, and how love is the most important thing in this world. His famous saying was, "It's All About The Love". When he passed away from cancer in 2008 I was only 22. Not only did I lose my brother, but my mentor and my friend. So this company is named in tribute to his memory."
