One of the key things to know about Greta Aguirre is that she raises every plant she uses in her skincare line herself, from seed. She literally has her hands on her products at every step.
The care shows.
Her products are gentle, effective and beautiful.
With the success of Greta's Lavender Cleanser/Toner, she was motivated to create a second product that would provide even more nourishment and protection to her skin – she wanted to make a serum.
Serums are generally used on clean skin to provide nutrition and protection. Her whole life she struggled with sensitive and oily skin, so the idea of using an oil-based serum seemed crazy, but more research only turned up more benefits of using oils. Digging a little deeper, she learned that some especially, nutrient-rich oils also balance sebum production (the skin’s natural oil) – a win/win!
From the beginning, rosemary was Greta's first choice as the lead herb for this first serum. She knew from years of work, makeup, travel, and late nights in different time zones that rosemary is a go-to remedy for dark circles and overall puffiness. It also soothes irritation, removes impurities, and prevents clogged pores – firming and lifting the skin, giving it (and you) a more youthful appearance. YES to all of that!!
SOiL’s Rosemary Serum combines rosemary and seven other skin-feeding herbs from our farm with two nutrient-rich oils known to balance sebum production without clogging the pores. Being her own first product test subject, she was happy to say that her skin has never been healthier, and is no longer oily. Once she stopped stripping it with harsh cleansers and started feeding it appropriate herbs and oils, it balanced itself!
Not long afterward, Greta formulated SOiL’s Carrot Seed Serum for dry and mature skin.
In her excitement about these initial successes, she started talking with friends and family about her formulas and asking questions about their skin and their issues. Among the first was her mother-in-law who is in her 70’s and has lived all of her active outdoor life in the sun and sea of California. She shared with me that her skin was very dry and getting drier as she got older after many years of sun damage.
Carrot seed was the obvious choice as the primary ingredient for its ability to boost collagen production, smooth lines, repair sun damage, and reduce the appearance of scar tissue. Greta picked oils that have many similar properties to those in the Rosemary Serum but are richer to help with more severe dryness.
Greta's mother-in-law loved the Carrot Seed Serum immediately and has continued to use it to this day. She said, “My mature, dry skin drinks the serum and lines and wrinkles visibly relax and smooth out!”
Though these two serums, like all SOiL products, were initially created for Greta and people she knows and loves (not to sell). She is SO excited to put them out into the world. She hopes they increase the health and beauty of your skin and your life as much as they have for her and her family.
